As well as helping to sustain all life on earth and keep us happy and healthy, water is a lot of fun. To help you have as much fun as possible with H2O, we’ve picked out some of the best water parks around the world for you to explore.
Siam Park, Adeje, Spain
According to TripAdvisor, Siam Park on the Spanish island of Tenerife is the best water park in the world. Voted visitors’ favourite for the third year in a row, the park is filled with Thai-inspired architecture and adrenaline pumping rides. One of the most popular rides in the park is Singha, a toboggan-style ride that sends thrill seekers hurtling along a 240m high speed route at 18m per second. Another firm favourite in the park is the Tower of Power. The near vertical 28m drop sees riders speeding through a shark filled aquarium before emerging safely in a plunge pool at the end of the adventure.
Tropical Island Resort, Germany
While most water parks are only open in the summer months, Tropical Island Resort, 30 miles south of Berlin, is a year-round watery oasis. The biggest indoor water park in the world, it covers an area of more than 16 acres. Visitors can actually spend a night or two inside the resort, camping on the park’s beaches or sleeping in one of its rentable huts. There are bars, restaurants, lagoons and jungles to keep visitors busy or you can work up a sweat in the Olympic size pool.
Waterbom Bali, Indonesia
Spread over 3.8 hectares of this idyllic tropical island, Waterbom Bali has been voted the best water park in Asia. A fantastic destination for an action packed day out with the family, the park features rides like Climax, an exhilarating ride that sees visitors dropped out of a trap door 16m above the water, exposing them to a G-force of 2.5 as they plummet to the waves.
Aquaventure Waterpark, Dubai, UAE
Part of the luxurious Atlantis the Palm development, Aquaventure Waterpark is the most popular water park in the Middle East. The family friendly attraction features an aquarium where you can get up close to sharks, rays and other marine life, as well as a number of exciting rides and it's very on 700m private beach.
Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool, UK
Luckily, you don’t have to travel too far to experience a world-class waterpark. In Blackpool, on the UK’s Irish Sea Coast, you’ll find the Sandcastle Waterpark, the country’s biggest indoor water based attraction. Kept at a balmy 28C, the park features a great choice of rides including the world’s longest indoor water rollercoaster and the first indoor vertical waterslide.
